Ice Cream

School is out. Summer is here and for me that means it is time to break out the ice cream maker. This year I found an ice cream book at our local Half Priced Books. It was an old copy of Williams Sonoma Icecream. It has a little bit of everything in it from Sorbets to Gratinas. It also has the traditional as well as some more unusual flavors such as Ginger. My two kids decided to try out the Blueberries and Cream flavor. I think this was a good choice as it is a good time for blueberries. So we followed the directions and started with this.20120531-195330.jpg

Next the mixture had to cool for at least 3 hours. That was the hard part. Once it was cool we added the lemon juice and cream that the recipe called for and put it in the ice cream maker.20120531-195358.jpg

Finally a day later after the mixture froze over night we had this. Blueberries make for a crazy bright (all-natural) color. Yum! I feel like summer is officially here!

  1. So, that is what real blueberry ice cream looks like! The color is so vibrant, it looks more like a sorbet. I think the ginger flavor sounds interesting, maybe with some lemon too. Yummy.
